My name is Jo I am in my 20s and officially a makeup beauty Addict. I have always loved playing with makeup. However It was at the beginning of this year that I finally discovered my passion. I first got into makeup in a big way when I searched for something on Youtube. I typed in the search and found all these girls talking about and experimenting with makeup. From that day on I was hooked. I have made a couple of really good friends on youtube who encouraged me to start blogging. So as I am unable to make videos myself here I am. It's early days but I have some interesting things to come. If you have anything to say about any of my posts please feel free to leave a comment. Thanks Jo x

Nails Of The Day (hopefully week)

I thought it was about time I updated again and as I painted my nails yesterday I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do my first NOTD.

I used Nails inc Dover Street. This is a nice deep lilac mauve purple. Not quite sure how to describe it lol....Here are some photos.

I have quite a detailed nail routine so if you want me to do another post showing exactly what I do then let me know in the comments.

I also have a question. I am right handed so is it normal that I can paint my right hand (obviously using my left) easier than I can paint my left using the hand i use to write with..? I think this is just me. If you have the same issue or any tips to make my life easier please let me know because I am fedup with having 1 hand better than the other. The photos above are of my right hand.

Another problem I have is my nail varnish NEVER lasts on me. Normally I can just about make it last 2-3 days. Last time my right hand lased 4 days which is excellent for me. If it always lasted that long i'd b over the moon.

Like i said i painted my nails yesterday and I've already had to touch up my left hand. So again any tips leave them in the comments.

I have been told OPI Chip Skip is good?

I am also thinking of trying OPI Rapid dry spray between layers?

Any thoughts on anything in this post would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed.

Home Alone + Boredom = My Wishlist

As you are all probably well aware by now I have been on 'Project No Buy' for a few weeks now. This project has lead to quite a long wish list....I'm sure all you beauty bloggers know how this feels.

I have quite a few things from the Mac permanent line that I have been good enough to put on my Christmas list that my dad and his partner always ask me to give them. Oh and of course I'll want some of the things from the holiday collections when they come out. I am hoping they can be added to the list aswell...Expect another post about this a bit nearer xmas when my list is complete.

Now for this things that I will probably end up getting myself...

Although I have the 120 palette it isnt very good quality so I dont use it really..I use it to work out if something would suit me then take the makeup off because of all the Fallout. I have heard the 88 Palettes from Coastal scents are much better.

So from Coastal Scents I would like:

The 88 Eyeshadow Palette

The 88 Warm Palette

The 66 Lip Palette
The ONLY reason I really want the 66 lip palette is because as you can see it comes with a couple of blues in it and I am DYING to have play with those work out what colours I can create by mixing. LOL

I would also like to try one of the brush sets as I have heard good things about them.

I don't need any more brushes but I always like to try new ones and compare them to my MAC ones.

Talking about comparing brushes to MAC, I have always wondered what Sigma is like. Again I have heard good things about them. So I would love to give them a try.

Okay the final Brand I would like to try (again one I have heard a lot about).. ELF (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk.) I am mostly interested in the studio line.

I need your help now because when i do order from Elf I only want to spend £20 ideally..I will stretch to £30 but no more than that. I Would love to know ur recommendations on brushes + makeup within this price range. I would like to have a nice variety of things for my money so nothing that's going to gobble up to much at once please.

So if you could leave a comment I would really appreciate it.

Thankyou for reading and I hope you enjoyed.

Jo :) x

P.S. I forgot to add some things to my wish list lol...

The Corrector Quad and one of Camo Quads From Coastal Scents

Both Urban decay Book of shadows.

And Mini 24/7 glide on eyeliner Super Stash kit

HEHE TOLD YOU I WANTED A LOT...ALL THOUGHTS + COMMENTS WELCOME

Just a quick Update. (Okay maybe not so quick lol)

You may all be wondering Where I have been recently....Okay some of you may not be but this entry is for those of you that are interested If your not then feel free to click the x in the corner. I won't b offended honest. :)

I am photographer and recently had quite a few photoshoots in the space of a few weeks. So I have been spending the last few weeks, since the photoshoots finished sorting out all the photos (cropping enhancing etc...basically making them the best they can be.)

Some of you may know this process can take a very long time especially when you have then building up. So although I have done a couple of posts to get myself back into the swing of things. I haven't been able to do as much as I would like. (Sorry about that.)

The Photoshoots have now finished and I am pretty much there with the computer work. All I need to do now is check everything over then put them on disk. Then i can get them in the post.

Now I have bored you all to tears with all that..on to the fun stuff hehe.

I have a few ideas on things i want to include in future posts. These ideas Include:

More reviews: I Have loads of makeup so I will dig into my kit and pick out some interesting things to tell you about. So if anything I should be able to EASILY do some of these on reasonably regular basis.

Hauls: This one may be tricky for a while, I am trying to save my money for christmas. So you may not see much 'Hauling' from me for a while. (I am calling this 'Project no buy.' However I promise there WILL be some at some point. :)

Looks: Kind of like LOTD / FOTD but I won't be calling it that in case I don't get one up every day. (I don't want to feel obligated to post everyday. In my opinion it takes the fun out of it if you feel you HAVE to do it.... I want this to continue to be fun. So if i do a look that especially nice or unique then I will let you know. :)

Dupes: These may be dupes for colour or even quality. I am hoping these will help all the people that are on a budget and don't wan to (or can't afford to) spend the money on expensive makeup.

I want to try some looks at some point this week. (I want to try to dupe some of the Mac Style Black eyeshadows. As I am on 'Project no buy' and I also don't want to spend to much on glittery things (I am not normally a fan of glitter) But these shadows in intriguing. So i thought I would try to dupe them with some of the makeup i have already. I will let you know how I get on with that.

However before I do too many additions I want to try to get some photos done. I know my 1st review is in need of some photos and swatches. I shall get on to that asap.

Okay I think I have come to the end of my update. (Ended up being longer than expected lol.) This blogging business is very addictive once you get going. I start a post thinking 'I don't know what to write'...then before I know it I have loads lol.

I am babbling again...see what I mean lol.

Hope you are all keeping well anyway.

Please comment and let me know what you think of my ideas. If you have any more suggestions of things feel free to tell me all suggestions are much appreciated.

Bye for now

x

Sunset Strip Eye shadow + Eyeliner kit (Famous by Sue Moxley)

This is my 1st attempt at a makeup review so I hope you like it and find it helpful.

Before I start I would like to add a little Disclaimer:

This review is my opinion nothing more nothing less. I am not saying this product is better or worse than anything else on the market. You dont have to agree with me. Feel free to leave a comment if you have had different experiences with this product but just keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you + vice versa. I'm just being honest about my experience. Thanks for reading this now on to the review.

I guess I should first give you all a summery of what the kit includes.

It comes with a Dual Ended Applicator.

To be honest I dont use this applicator as I would much rather use my mac brushes. However its always handy to have if you go on holiday and don't have room for loads of brushes in your travel kit.

As I said it is Dual ended. This means that there are two applicators in one... One end is a fluffy shader brush (this would be good for applying colour and probably blending aswell. The other end is a sponge tip applicator... Lets face it....no one uses those.

The kit also comes with 6 Eye shadow colours and a Clear Liquid Liner.

The Eyeshadow Colours included are: Orange, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple and finally a Pink.

The colours are quite pigmented and they apply really smoothly. This means that if you wanted a bright dramatic look this kit would be good for you to try.

They is also really easy to blend so I am sure it would be just as easy to get a more subtle look using these colours. Just be careful to use a light hand when picking up colour and applying.

As I mentioned it also comes with a Clear liquid liner. Now you may be wondering why you would want a clear liner?

The idea of the liner is to turn the shadows into a coloured eyeliner.

Say for example you wanted a green eyeliner.... You would gently swipe the brush over the green shadow then just line your eye as you would with a normal liquid liner.

Now we have covered the product itself lets talk about the packaging.

The packaging is basically a black case with a magnetic closure.

To me it looks very sleek and sophisticated.

The Magnet is a good feature because it means it’s secure. So it's not suddenly going to open up while travelling and make a big mess in the bottom of your makeup bag.....Of course we all know what that feels like, right?

It has a little decorative star on the opening which looks very nice.

I am sure some people would use this to open it, I personally like to pick it up and open it from underneath though. It's entirely up to you how you do it. I just find it easier that way.

There is a mirror on the inner lid which is very helpful especially if you are travelling and away from your normal dressing table set up.

On the outer lid it has the title in big bold letters taking up half the lid space so it’s nice and easy to read. The other half is a picture of half a face with the eye closed showing 3 Bright bold eye shadow colours on the lid. (This i find a bit deceiving as the colours in the kit DO NOT come out this bold.)

My Thoughts on this kit...I really like it.

The last time i saw it on the superdrug website it was £15.66. (However I have just looked and it doesn't appear to be on there now. I am hoping it hasn't been discontinued...if it has i'm sorry.) I however managed to find it on ebay for around half the price.

There is also a more neutral one available. If you are not into the bold colours (or maybe you just need a more neutral kit for everyday wear.) then this one would be perfect for you.

Of course you don't have to stick to just the one. If you like bold colours for going out at the weekend but need neutrals during the week, why not get both? (IF you can afford it of course.) This way you can have the best of both worlds.

I am personally a big fan of eye shadow palettes. In my opinion they are great value for money. Especially if you are on a budget. They are great for getting a nice selection of colours that quite often can be used together for a fraction of the price.

My overall impression is that it is a good quality sophisticated product aimed at the younger generation. (The other kit may be more suited to a wider age group.) Of course it doesn't have to be for the younger ages. If you like bold colours you could have fun with it whatever age you are.

Well thats my review. I hope you liked it.

I would love to hear everyones comments and thoughts.

Please let me know if you have any more questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.

Blog Take Two: Introduction to my blog

Hi guys,

I decided to create a new beauty blog as my last one (Jo's Beauty blog) was a Complete FAIL, and my good friend Becky (AKA Sirvinya on youtube) has been telling me for weeks that i need to update my blog.

'Why didn't I just continue with your old one I hear you ask?'

Well there are two reasons for that really. Firstly i decided the name of the old blog Jo's Beauty Blog was very boring. I wanted something a bit more catchy....I hope you will agree this one is much better.

Now the Second reason....this is more of a technical reason and probably the Main reason for creating a new one.... I forgot the details of my old one lol....Yes it really has been that long since i updated. (Slap Wrists i know lol.)

So Becky I am RELYING on you to nag me to keep this one updated hehe.

Okay now all that's out the way I guess I should introduce myself to those of you who don't know me. (Not that I am expecting many readers / followers lol.)

My name is Jo I am 23 years old and OBVIOUSLY I am addicted to makeup and anything beauty related.

I have always loved makeup since i was little but my main obsession with it really only started after doing a search for something on youtube at the beginning of this year. I then discovered all these girls that loved makeup and made videos. This Made me create a youtube account so I could subscribe to some of my favourites and comment on videos. So yes as I'm sure most beauty bloggers and youtubers would say. I blame my addiction entirely on youtube. LOL.

Now, makeup to me isn't something I HAVE to wear on a daily basis. I am perfectly happy to go out the door without anything on. Having said that as I have so much of it I do try to find time to put it on if i am going out.

I mainly think of it as something that's Great fun to play with and experiment with different looks and colours.

I have a very arty family. (Which I think to be honest is where my love for makeup came from.) I am a big fan of colour so I love experimenting to see what suits me and what doesn't. Certain colours still scare me but I try to look at is as that's what the makeup wipes are for....If you dont like it it can always be taken off... So if I could give any advice to anyone reading this my message would be, 'Don't scared to experiment. Just have fun with it.'

Okay...So I think I have come to the end of this entry. I shall look forward to seeing what you think of this Becky. Let me know. (At least I know one person will be reading it lol.) Also let me know what you think of the name choice?

Bye for now.

Jo. x
